Chelsea appear to have stepped up their attempts in the race to sign Alejandro Garnacho. The Manchester United winger has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer after falling out of favour with Ruben Amorim.
Garnacho - whose contract at Old Trafford expires in June 2028 - featured 58 times across all competitions last season, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists. The 8-cap Argentina international played a key role in Amorim's squad until he was omitted from the squad on the final day of the Premier League campaign.
He was also dropped to their subs bench for the Europa League final, despite having started each of the knockout ties. If the writing wasn't already on the wall, Garnacho was left at home for United's pre-season tour of the United States, which concluded this month.

Chelsea are in talks with Man Utdfootball.london understands that Chelsea are in talks with United to sign Garnacho. The Blues are long-term admirers of the Argentinean, who was subject to interest in the January transfer window - but a switch never materialised at that stage.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea have stepped up talks to sign Garnacho in the wake of Benjamin Sesko's £74m transfer to United. The report claims that the Blues view the winger's situation at Old Trafford as an opportunity, as they look to sign a right-footed left winger to compete with Jamie Gittens.
It's said that Chelsea are not inclined to simply meet the Red Devils' valuation. Garnacho reportedly expects to join the west Londoners before the summer transfer window slams shut on September 1 - and he's ruled out all options other than moving to Stamford Bridge or staying at Old Trafford.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Garnacho has already agreed on personal terms with Chelsea. The report claims that the two Premier League clubs have started negotiations over a fee.
Amorim provides Garnacho updateEarlier this month, Amorim provided an update on Garnacho. The United head coach described the Chelsea target as a 'talented boy', who wants 'a different thing with a different leadership'.
"I think Garnacho, you can understand and you can see, he's talented, that he's a really talented boy," said Amorim. "And sometimes things don't work out. You can't explain specifically what it is.

"But I have the feeling, I think it's clear that Garnacho wants a different thing and with a different leadership. I can understand that. So I think it's not a problem. Sometimes you adapt to one guy, you have the connection.
"Other times, you want a new challenge. So, we try to make everything okay to all parts. To the club, to the coach and to the [other] players. So, it's a natural thing in football..."
