The University Grants Commission (UGC) has warned 37 universities to upload all mandatory information on their websites. The Commission has stated that if these universities fail to do so within two weeks, they may suspend their accreditation, courses, and degree programs under UGC regulations.
UGC Secretary Professor Manish Joshi has released the names of these universities. The defaulter list includes Agravan Heritage University in Agra, Maya Devi University in Dehradun, Azim Premji University in Bhopal, and Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic University in Jabalpur, among a total of 37 universities.
Students suffer due to disregard for rules.
Senior sources stated that despite repeated notices to these universities, they are not complying with UGC regulations. This prevents students and parents from receiving accurate information. Many students have complained that universities make admissions based on misleading information.
The UGC states that it is mandatory for all higher education institutions to regularly review and update their websites. This step has been taken to provide accurate information to students and ensure transparency in education.
Which details are mandatory to upload?
Detailed information on all courses and degree programs
Admission process and fee structure
Academic calendar
Faculty and staff information
University recognition and affiliation
UGC ultimatum
The UGC has clarified that this two-week ultimatum is a final warning. If universities fail to update their websites after this time, the Commission will take strict action against them, including suspending all courses and degree programs.
This move by the UGC is considered an important initiative towards increasing transparency and credibility in education. The Commission believes that the lack of accurate information on the website creates confusion for students and makes it difficult for them to make informed decisions.
