If you're bored of watching Reels on the small screen of your mobile phone, Instagram is preparing a new solution for you. The company has announced that it may launch an Instagram TV app.
You may soon be able to watch Reels on your home smart TV. Instagram is considering a TV app. This will allow people to watch Reels and other videos on the big screen. This could pose a significant challenge to YouTube. Instagram head Adam Mosseri stated that the company is currently considering this, but no official development has been made yet.
The Instagram head said this about the TV app.
Mosseri said that if people are watching content on TV, then we will also have to move to TV. Instagram wants its content to look good on every device. He added that live sports and exclusive shows will not be available on the app. Mosseri also admitted that Instagram should have launched a TV app years ago.
India is an important market - Mosseri.
Mosseri also spoke about India. He said that India is a crucial market for Instagram's growth, especially after the ban on TikTok. Following the border dispute with China in 2020, the Indian government banned several Chinese apps, including TikTok. Since then, Instagram has been unable to compete with anyone in India when it comes to short videos.
Many Changes Happening on Instagram
Instagram has undergone significant changes over the past few years, and it's no longer limited to photos. People are increasingly liking it due to private messages, stories, and reels. Instagram, owned by Meta, has surpassed 3 billion monthly users and is now focusing more on short videos to give TikTok a tough competition in the global market.
