The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has been shortlisted to host the final of IPL 2025 on June 3 along with the qualifier 2 on June 1. Further, New Chandigarh's Mullanpur Stadium will host the host the first two playoffs matches on May 29 and May 30.
This is being done as Monsoon is likely to affect matches in the southern and eastern parts of the country. The BCCI has also shifted the May 23 fixture between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Bengaluru to Lucknow. The previous match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium was washed out.
According to the original schedule, Hyderabad and Kolkata were to host the playoff matches. However, the IPL schedule had to be revised in the wake of the India-Pakistan military conflict that halted the event for 10 days.
The new venues for the Playoffs were decided by the IPL Governing Council keeping in mind the weather conditions and other parameters, the BCCI said in a statement.
Ahmedabad had earlier hosted the IPL final in 2022 and 2023.
So far, three teams including Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings have qualified for the playoffs. The last spot is still available for grabs with Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals still in contention.
