Actor Karishma Kapoor's children have moved the Delhi High Court seeking a share in their late father Sunjay Kapur's assets estimated at Rs 30,000 crore, in a new twist to the ongoing dispute at the promoter family of Sona Comstar.
The case is likely to be heard by Justice Jyoti Singh Wednesday.
The children, Samaira (20) and Kiaan Raj (15), through their mother, urged the court to declare them Class I legal heirs and direct a partition of their father’s estate, demanding a one-fifth share each. Being Class I legal heirs, the children said they were entitled to their respective shares in the personal assets of their father in accordance with inheritance laws. They also want the court to appoint a local commission to effect the partition of the assets.
The petitioners sought a direction to their father's second wife, Priya Kapur, and other defendants to render complete records on the personal assets of Sunjay Kapur as they do not have complete information about the assets.
The late chairman of Sona Comstar was married to Priya Sachdev < > at the time of his death. He has a son with her.
Priya and her minor son, Sunjay Kapur's mother Rani Kapur, and the purported executor of the will, Shradha Suri Marwah, have been named defendants in the case.
The siblings have alleged that Priya, Sunjay Kapur’s third wife < >, forged his will in an attempt to seize complete control of the assets.
They called the document invalid and said neither the original nor a copy of the purported will has been shown to them.
They requested the court to restrain Priya and others from alienating, transferring, selling or creating third-party interests in any of the personal assets of their father.
In July, the petitioners and their mother were informed of Sunjay Kapur's last will and also that the entire personal assets of their father have been bequeathed to Priya, they said.
The petition submitted that Priya conspired with two others — Dinesh Agarwal ((who held the position of CFO and Director of Aureus Investments Private Limited, the promoter company) and Nitin Sharma — to suppress the original will before revealing an alleged forged and fabricated it to family on July 30, 2025.
The siblings claimed that until their father's sudden demise on June 12, they shared a close relationship with him, including frequent travels, holidays and regular involvement in his business and personal milestones.
Sunjay Kapur died on June 12 following a heart attack in the UK at the age of 53. At the time he was chairman of the auto component business Sona BLW Precision Forgings, which was founded by his late father, Surinder Kapur. Sona Comstar is the flagship of the Sona Group and is valued at Rs 29,186 crore.
Sunjay Kapur’s sudden death triggered a bitter power struggle within the family over control and inheritance of the Sona Group.
His mother, Rani Kapur, had claimed “gross illegalities” at Sona Comstar since the death of her son and raised concerns over developments within its leadership structure. The company had dismissed her claims. < >
