Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a move aimed at promoting road safety and responsible behaviour among two-wheeler riders, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav has written a letter to the District Collector suggesting a new directive which will prohibit entry into government offices for individuals without helmets.
The letter highlights a recent decision to deny fuel at petrol pumps to riders without helmets, which received widespread public appreciation.
Building on this initiative, the Mayor has now proposed extending the restriction to key government offices, including the Collectorate, Municipal Corporation, Police Stations and Tehsil Offices.
According to the mayor, this rule would not only reinforce helmet usage but also set a strong example of administrative responsibility and civic discipline.
He believes that such a directive would strengthen public sentiment towards safety and foster a culture of compliance with traffic laws.
Bhargav urged the district administration to seriously consider the suggestion and issue appropriate directions at the earliest.
He emphasised that denying entry to helmetless individuals could become a vital step in enhancing community awareness and road safety standards across the city.
