An English tourist is fighting for his life in hospitalafter he was attacked in Dublin's city centre during the early hours.
The man, aged in his 40s, was assaulted at 12:30am today at Dublin's Temple Bar before being rushed to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in a critical condition. He is understood to have been visiting Ireland on holiday, and was allegedly kicked in the head after getting into an altercation with another man near the Centra in Temple Bar Square, the Irish Mirror reports. Gardai are understood to have gathered strong CCTV of the incident.

They are now urging witnesses, or anyone who may have information on the incident, to get in touch. A spokesman said: "Gardaí in Pearse Street are appealing for witnesses in relation to a serious assault that occurred in the Temple Bar Square area of Dublin 2 in the early hours of this morning, Thursday 21st August 2025. Gardaí and emergency services responded to the incident at approximately 12.30am.
"A man, aged in his 40s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in a critical condition. The scene was preserved and a technical examination has been completed.
"Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information in relation to this incident or who may have video footage to contact Pearse Street Garda Station on (01) 6669000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station. Investigations are ongoing."
