The latest Pokemon escapade is on the horizon, with two distinct editions for players to choose from. One edition clearly stands out and demands your attention, particularly when considering the differences across consoles for previous Pokemon games.
The release date for Pokemon Legends: Z-A is fast approaching, bringing a new adventure that players are eager to dive into. However, due to the game's marketing, players are beginning to feel as though they've seen everything.
With numerous social media posts revealing a plethora of new Mega Evolutions coming to the Pokemon game, and practically unveiling every corner of the new cityscape that players are supposed to explore, it feels like we've already experienced the forthcoming sandbox.
However, this isn't likely to deter many franchise fans, as the chance to explore with some mates by their side remains an exciting prospect, even for players who aren't already captivated by the recently revealed Honkai Nexus Anima. There's still a decision to be made for players – which version of the game should you invest in, especially if you have access to a Nintendo Switch 2?
Here's what you need to know about the difference between Pokemon Legends: Z-A's editions.

Pokemon Legends Z-A Switch 1 vs. Switch 2There are two key differences that set apart the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, namely improved resolution and frame rate on the latter. This might seem like a minor addition for the higher price tag it carries, but it could be a game-changer.
Take a look at Pokemon Scarlet and Violet to see how these features can transform gameplay experience – on Nintendo Switch 2, these titles are completely revamped with faster loading times and superior visuals that flipped the gameplay experience upside down. The initial trailers we saw for Legends: Z-A did still appear a bit rough around the edges before we got a glimpse of the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game, so if you're willing to overlook the visual upgrades and endure longer wait times, then you'll be able to save some quid on the different versions.
However, with the Pokemon Legends: Z-A Nintendo Switch 2 Edition priced at £58.99 / $69.99 / AU$109.95, and the Nintendo Switch Edition costing £49.99 / $59.99 / AU$89.95, it'll come down to cost for many to make the decision. You can always upgrade the game to the Nintendo Switch 2 edition by paying the difference for an upgrade pack.
Primarily, both editions of Pokemon Legends: Z-A will offer the same gaming experience, with no content being exclusive to either edition. The difference will largely depend on your console's performance.
If all goes well, the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Z-A is expected to be the superior version of the game. However, it's up to you to decide if the difference between the two versions justifies the additional cost. For those using the original Nintendo Switch, it appears that the decision has already been made for you.
