Ruben Amorim has invited Rory McIlroy to show off The Masters trophy and Green Jacket at Old Trafford after the superfan said
McIlroy, 35, completed the career grand slam at Augusta last weekend after more than a decade of trying. And having already posed with the Claret Jug earned by winners of The Open before a home game against Swansea in August 2014, he looks set to present his rewards in front of United fans again.
Amorim, in a video message posted by the club, said: “Hi Rory. Congratulations for The Masters and I want to invite you to Old Trafford to show your trophy.
“It is really important to us in this moment. You achieved something that a lot of people thought would be impossible and we want that feeling in our stadium. So, I hope to see you soon at Old Trafford and to meet you.”

Amorim’s response comes after McIlroy was asked about United during his post-tournament media duties. “If it can inspire some better play, absolutely,” he said.
United are gearing up for a season-defining game against Lyon in the second leg of their quarter-final on Thursday night.
With their league campaign winding down and no chance of finishing in the top half, Amorim’s men are all-in on Europe. And should they fail to win the Europa League, United will enter next season with only domestic concerns.

The Lyon tie is finely poised after a 2-2 draw in France last week, a game that United had led 2-1 until another error from goalkeeper Andre Onana in the final moments.
But a 4-1 hammering away to chasing United on Sunday dented their fragile confidence further.
Amorim has also had to absorb a fresh injury blow with Joshua Zirkzee ruled out because of a thigh injury sustained in the first half at St James' Park. And he joined Matthijs de Ligt, Tobias Collyer, Ayden Heaven and Amad on the absentee list.
