Rumors of a firing incident involving BJP leader and Delhi minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa created a stir on Wednesday. Initial reports claimed that a bullet was fired at the minister while he was visiting a location in the national capital. However, Sirsa himself dismissed the reports as baseless, calling them mere rumors aimed at spreading misinformation. Delhi Police has also officially denied any such incident.
According to the police, the misunderstanding began when Manjinder Singh Sirsa visited the Khyala area. During his visit, someone spotted a piece of metal lying in the street and mistook it for a bullet cartridge. This led to panic and speculation of a firing incident. However, when the object was examined, it turned out to be a harmless part of a sewing machine — not a bullet or any form of ammunition. After investigating the area, Delhi Police confirmed that there was no sign of any gunfire or threat.
In a public statement, the minister clarified, “There are rumours of bullets being fired at me. This is completely false. No such incident has occurred. I am absolutely fine.”
Manjinder Singh Sirsa currently holds the portfolios of Food and Supply, Industry, Forest, and Environment in the Delhi government. Elected from the Punjabi-majority constituency of Rajouri Garden, Sirsa took his oath as minister in Punjabi. Known for his outspoken nature and active political presence, he often makes headlines, but this time it was for a controversy that never actually happened.
The incident serves as a reminder of how quickly misinformation can spread, particularly in the age of social media. Thanks to swift clarification from both the police and Sirsa, the truth was revealed before the rumor could snowball further.
