The first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Ghana in the last three decades created excitement among the Indian community. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was warmly welcomed by the Indian community of Ghana when he reached the hotel from the airport. During this, a group of small children recited 'Hare Ram Hare Krishna' and Sanskrit verses in front of him. As soon as PM Modi reached the hotel, hundreds of people, including locals, started raising slogans of Modi-Modi, Bharat Mata Ki Jai, and Vande Mataram.

Dance and music programs were also presented by the Indian community to welcome Modi. A large Indian community of more than 15,000 people lives in Ghana. Many NRIs are working as skilled workers for multinational companies and major local Ghanaian businesses.

After reaching Accra, the capital of Ghana, PM Modi wrote on social media, I have reached Ghana. I am overwhelmed by the special honor given by President John Dramani Mahama by being present at the airport himself. Both countries will work together to strengthen their old relations and find new areas of cooperation.

The Prime Minister's Office wrote on social media, PM Modi has reached Accra a while ago on a historic visit. This is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Ghana in the last three decades. President Mahama himself welcomed Prime Minister Modi at the airport with a warm gesture. The Ministry of External Affairs said that this warm gesture of the President shows the strong and historical friendship between the two countries. On Thursday, Modi will address the Parliament of Ghana and will also interact with the Indian community.
