New Delhi: It requires guts for a person to commit suicide.
Imagine someone taking his own life and filming the act!
In a shocking incident which took place in Nihal Vihar area, a Delhi man died by hanging himself after streaming a live video on social media.
In the footage which has gone viral, the man called Vikas, accused his wife of having an extramarital affair and also spoke of his own financial troubles.
Vikas accused a man named Shakib of having a relationship with his wife.
Vikas claimed that after he himself had introduced Shakib to his family, the latter developed a romantic relationship with his wife. He went on to say that his wife moved out of their home and started hanging out with Shakib, who was allegedly involved in several cybercrimes.
Vikas also claimed he was burdened with heavy debts, and the overall situation affected his mental health, prompting him to take the extreme step.
Vikas said that he loved his wife, contrary to comments by some people that he tortured her. The couple has a four-year-old son.
“I have been married for five years. My wife left me due to my financial woes. I hold myself responsible for my debt. I love my wife and can’t live without her,” Vikas said in the video.
Vikas demanded that after his death, the custody of his four-year-old son be given to his parents. He said his wife did not have a stable income to raise the child properly.
“My child should remain with my parents or with my sister. Custody shouldn’t be given to my wife. She is living with her mother on rent and they don’t have the means to raise the child,” he said.
The viral video sparked outrage, and many social media users sympathised with Vikas, drawing a parallel with the death of Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash, who took his life after accusing his wife and her relatives of harassment.
Delhi Police have launched an investigation into Vikas’ suicide.
