Some BBC viewers are claiming the latest episode of is an "incredibly frustrating" watch as . The 20-year-old actress, who starred as the main companion to 's Doctor last season, appeared in 'Lucky Days', portraying the love interest of podcaster and antagonist Conrad Clark (played by Jonah Hauer-King).
The latest instalment of Doctor Who aired on BBC One on Saturday (May 3), opening with the Fifteenth Doctor and (Varada Sethu) landing in 2007 England. There, they meet a younger version of Conrad on New Year's Eve.
The chance meeting spawned an obsession, causing Conrad to spend his life seeking out the Doctor and hoping to see his TARDIS once again. After years of searching for the Time Lord, the podcaster stumbles upon Ruby getting into the blue telephone box by chance in 2024.
Fast forward a year, and Conrad's relentless search for Ruby pays off-she gets in contact with him and appears as a guest on his podcast. The pair seemingly hit it off, but their relationship isn't what it initially seems.
Ruby learns that her boyfriend only took an interest in her so that he could expose UNIT (an international military organisation) for spreading lies about aliens, monsters, and wasting taxpayers money. Thus, proving his conspiracy theories correct.
At one point, Conrad holds Ruby at gunpoint but is eventually reprimanded and put behind bars. The Doctor, who takes a back seat in 'Lucky Day' eventually swoops in, giving the antagonist a dressing down for the way he used and treated Ruby.
'Lucky Day', the fourth episode of season two of Doctor Who, has been praised by fans, with one writing: "Lucky Day is by far one of the best Dr Who episodes."
A second wrote on X: "Lucky Day was decent - loved seeing Ruby back and that twist with Conrad threw me off I was not expecting that. Kate Stewart showed Conrad that she's her father's daughter and not to mess with her legacy. The scene with Conrad & the Doctor was so good."
However, one Reddit user has admitted the Peter Hoar-directed instalment left them "frustrated". They typed: "This episode made me so upset, it was so incredibly frustrating to watch his smug face -- brilliant work."
Another said: "You thought the Midnight Entity was going to be the most terrifying villain this season? Nope, it's a human on social media."
Last month, TVLine reported that Millie's character is expected to return in episode seven 'Wish World' and eight 'The Reality War' alongside Ncuti and Varada.
Both instalments have been written by Russell T Davis, with the former expected to air on May 24.
The season finale, 'The Reality War', will then premiere on BBC One on May 31.
Regarding the return of her character, Millie revealed that Ruby has a little bit of "PTSD" from her travels with the Doctor.
"It's such a cool concept to go back to a companion and see how they're getting on after that wild ride of being stuffed in a double bass or tackling goblins, or hanging over a rope ladder over London," she said in a Q&A Session.
"So it's like, how are things on Earth after all that?"
Tune into Doctor Who every Saturday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
