BBC The One Show viewers issue same complaint minutes into show

BBC viewers tuning into the latest episode of The One Show were left feeling rather disconcerted, branding the programme "quite off-putting" due to a jarring colour clash that caught their attention.

The Wednesday (April 9) evening broadcast saw presenters Clara Amfo and Alex Scott take charge, with guests including Black Mirror's mastermind Charlie Brooker, alongside actors Emma Corrin and Diego Luna gracing the iconic green sofa.

However, before the hosts could delve into conversation with their esteemed guests, they joined forces with presenter Nikki Fox for a Watchdog segment.

But it wasn't the content that threw viewers off, it was the stark red backdrop and Nikki's matching red dress that seemed to jar against each other, prompting viewers to express their dismay on social media platform X.

One viewer implored the BBC to up its game, exclaiming: "#watchdog #bbcwatchdog #theoneshow finding #nikkifox wearing a red dress in front of a red screen quite offputting. Better planning please."

Another simply stated: "All that background red is too much.", reports the Mirror.

Meanwhile a third queried, "What's going on with the colour clashes?" A fourth chimed in with a humorous take: "Who didn't get the dress colour memo?".

Relief washed over the audience when Clara and Alex returned to the show's usual backdrop, with one relieved fan commenting: "Thank goodness normal colour has resumed."

In an unrelated incident last week, The One Show had to momentarily interrupt its broadcast to apologise after guest actress Sally Phillips inadvertently let slip a swear word before the watershed during her interview.

Sally recounted a time when she was awestruck by another actor's talent, candidly telling her colleague Ben Miller, "Oh s**t, he's really good."

The One Show's Alex Jones couldn't help but chuckle at Sally's frank admission, but co-host Lauren Laverne later took a moment to say sorry to the audience for the blunder.

After swiftly transitioning to a discussion about the decline in children's reading post-pandemic and highlighting an initiative aimed at encouraging kids to read more, Lauren circled back to address the earlier mishap, stating: "Now I think speaking of language, and the love of language, we should just apologise for any fruity language. Sorry."

The One Show airs weeknights on BBC One at 7pm
