Snow could be on its way to the UK within the next 10 days, according to a new weather map. The map from WXCharts.com suggests there could be snowfall over parts of Scotland on October 12 and 13.

The snowfall is only expected to be light on both days and the map does not account for temperatures. Areas of Aberdeenshire, Banffshire, Invernesshire, Moray, Perthshire, Ross and Cromarty and Sutherland could all see snow on October 12. It's a similar story the next day, with snowfall possible in Aberdeenshire, Angus, Banffshire, Invernesshire, Moray and Ross and Cromarty.

The snow depth would likely be less than 1cm, according to the weather map.

Snow is not predicted for any other home nations, although the map suggests rain is likely.

On October 12, rainfall is expected across all of Northern Ireland, as well as large areas of Scotland, including Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Only northern areas of Wales could see rain, including the Isle of Anglesey.

Meanwhile, several parts of England are predicted to see the showers, affecting cities including Liverpool and Newcastle.

Kent and most of the East Anglia coast across Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex could too see rain.

The map suggests the rain will largely be light.

Only small pockets of rain is expected the day after, with Scotland most likely to be affected.

The Met Office's long-range forecast for October 8-17 says: "A broadly westerly pattern to start, maintaining relatively mild conditions, especially by night, with some weaker frontal systems moving in from the Atlantic.

"These will bring further spells of rain or drizzle at times, most likely affecting northern and western areas. Eastern areas generally look drier.

"By the weekend (11/12 October), there is a signal for pressure to build from the west or southwest of the UK, this means mostly lighter winds and settled for the bulk of the UK with only a risk of wet and at times windy weather for the north or east at the weekend.

"Under the settled conditions variable amounts of cloud, but fog an increasing risk where skies remain clear, possibly turning cooler later in the period as winds come from the east."
