
Heartbreaking tributes have been paid after a woman was stabbed to death in a block of flats in Merseyside on Tuesday, with the victim now being named locally as Rebekah Campbell. Emergency services rushed to the scene in Knowsley Heights, Huyton, at around 10.30pm on April 15 to a report that a woman had been stabbed after a "domestic incident".
The victim was rushed to hospital after being treated by police officers and paramedics at the scene, but tragically died of her injuries shortly afterwards. Her loves ones have since paid gut-wrenching tributes on social media, who described her as "beautiful" and "caring".
Meanwhile a 34-year-old man from Litherland in Sefton, Merseyside, has been arrested on suspicion of her murder and remains in police custody. Merseyside Police says they are still carrying out investigations at this time, with a cordon remaining in place outside the crime scene while police divers search the nearby canal as part of their enquiries.
One loved one, Lauren Groves wrote: "Wow I cannot believe what am reading. RIP Rebekah Louise fly high thinking of all your family at this devastating time. We will meet again one day."
A second, Chelsea Campbell, added: "Until we meet again our queen. Always look up to you even while you're not here." Antonia Evans said: "Forever young our beautiful girl, I will love and miss you forever."
Lisa Sillitoe said: "Heartbroken RIP Becky such a beautiful, caring girl. I can't believe this has happened to you. Heartbroken. Thinking of all your family at this devastating time RIP angel."
Nadine Henderson said: "My heart is broken for my sister and Rebekah Louise, mum and her brother and all her family. RIP Becky."
Natalia Louise Aesthetics said: "Can't stop thinking about our beautiful friend Rebekah Louise and all her family and friends, and her cousins who she absolutely adored. Becky was always a family girl and always loved being around her family and friends there was never a dull moment with her.
"She made everyone feel comfortable. Her smile lit up any room she walked into, she was just full of life. She loved a good dance and sing song on the karaoke. Becky you are so loved by everyone and we are all going to miss you so much, it doesn't seem real. You will never be forgotten, everyone is broken."
Detective Chief Inspector Ben Dyer of Merseyside Police said: "This was a tragic incident in which a woman has sadly lost her life and specially trained officers are supporting her family. An investigation is underway, which is in the very early stages as we seek to establish exactly what has happened.
"Patrols have been stepped up in the area to provide reassurance for the community and officers continue to make CCTV and witness enquiries. If you live in the area and have any concerns, please speak with officers.
"Although we have already made an arrest, we are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward. If you live in the area and saw or heard anything suspicious last night, please get in touch as a matter of urgency."
