During the latest instalment of Fox News, the presenter had to go off-script to issue an update about Joe Biden, 82, who has stated that clemency decisions were all his after claims he lacked the mental competence to pardon high-profile individuals during his time in office.
Presenter Lisa Boothe told viewers: "The New York Times is reporting that former President Biden had told them he'd orally granted all the pardons and commutations issued at the end of his term, meaning he did not personally sign the official warrants for clemency. Biden told The Times he did, in fact, make every single one of the clemency decisions himself, but says the autopen was used to sign the warrants since there were a lot of them." The interview with the publication reportedly lasted around 10 minutes.
She added: "Now, according to The Times, Biden called Trump and the Republicans liars for saying he was incapacitated and his aides used his autopen without his authorisation."
However, a guest on the show was shaking their head while the update was being announced. She said it was "really hard to swallow" that statement.
The guest added: "We know there were decisions made after hours; we know that for a fact, and so to say that it was every single [decision], I am going to have to see the receipts."
It comes as President Donald Trump's Justice Department are conducting investigations into how Biden's age impacted his ability to carry out his duties as President during his term.
By the end of his presidency, Biden took action to reduce prison time for almost 4,000 federal convicts. However, some have been left wondering if White House officials abused his use of the autopen, which doesn't require his physical signature.
But Biden told the New York Times: "I made every single one of those. I understand why Trump would think that, because obviously, I guess, he doesn't focus much. Anyway, so - yes, I made every decision."
