star Tom Felton - who played Draco Malfoy in the magical series - has opened up about one chilling piece of fanmail that left him speechless. The beloved actor was just 13 years old when he first appeared in the fantasy franchise alongside , Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. During the height of their fame, the star-studded cast received thousands of pieces of fanmail from superfans across the world.

Now 37, the actor has lifted the lid on one terrifying piece of mail in which a huge fan urged him to leave his parents, change his legal name to that of his onscreen character and get "adopted" thousands of miles away. In a recent interview, he confirmed that the fan was "deadly serious" - to the point that he'd enclosed all the paperwork he would need to fill in. Speaking to , he recalled: "He had changed his name legally to Lucius Malfoy and wanted me to change my name to Draco Malfoy and to legally adopt me!"

If he'd accepted, the Surrey-born actor would have been whisked away to start a new life across the pond. His devoted fan club had originally attracted so much interest following his Harry Potter debut that new subscriptions had to temporarily be blocked - but most superfan interactions were more conventional than that of this particular man.

He exclaimed: "It was the most disturbing fan mail I'd received. He was very serious!" Tom continued in a 2011 interview with : "He sent a binder of official documents that he'd filled out for me, so I just had to sign... then divorce my parents and go over to America to live with him!"

Unsurprisingly, he quickly "declined" the stranger's offer - and far from divorcing his parents, the family man has lavished them with gifts to thank them for their support after he hit the big time. He bought his brother a BMW, while his mum is now the owner of a Ford Focus courtesy of his generosity.

In the same article, Tom shared the "cut-throat" nature of the American film industry, revealing that at one point earlier in his career, he'd stumbled his way through 19 brutal rejections before finally landing a part.

He'd had to watch judges tap away on their Blackberry phones instead of paying attention to his audition before giving him a savage two-word send-off. The actor explained: "You're reading your lines, physically convulsing, and they just say 'Thank you'. That means 'Get lost'."

Now, of course, Tom is a huge star, using his Harry Potter fame as a springboard to numerous other films and TV show credits, including the upcoming 2025 series Gandhi, in which he plays the role of Josiah Oldfield.

It's been branded India's version of - and ahead of the release, Tom's been busily updating his account, where he's received billions of views.
