Jordan Pickford's son is treading in his father's footsteps, having been snapped up to train with Manchester City's academy. Six-year-old Arlo, the Everton goalkeeper's firstborn, has clearly caught the football bug from his dad and seems every bit the young prodigy.

The international shot-stopper took Arlo to watch Sunderland, Pickford's own boyhood club, nail a spot in the Championship play-off final after triumphing over Coventry at the Stadium of Light last Thursday. Arlo is also set to step out beside his father as a mascot in Everton's penultimate match of the season against Southampton at Goodison Park.

Pickford said: "My eldest son loves football. He's a keeper. He won a cup final at the weekend and he won a tournament the week before.

"He trains at City. He loves it. It's one of them where I just let him enjoy it. I'll go in the garden with him and kick the ball. It's brilliant.

"He's six, so it's a good age where he's learning and stuff. He loves watching me and always watching the team. He's so invested in it.

"My dad thinks my son's better than I was at six - but we'll see how good he is when he's 31!"
