A man has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of an eight-year-old boy at a campsite by Loch Ness. The man is 44-years-old and his arrest comes after Police Scotland announced it had seized more than 1,500 hours of CCTV footage as part of its investigation.
The force said officers received a report that the child had been approached within his tent at the Loch Ness Bay Campsite, Drumnadrochit, between 12.20am and 1am on July 31 this year. Detective Superintendent Calum Smith said: "We would like to thank the local community for their support during our investigation, in particular local businesses and those who came forward with information." The police carried out extensive door-to-door inquiries following the incident.
The force last month said officers had visited almost 100 properties.
"We have significant resources dedicated to this investigation and are fully committed to finding the individual responsible," Detective Superintendent Smith previously said.
Enquiries are ongoing and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal, Police Scotland said.
