Royal fans think they've spotted a major gaffe in Meghan Markle's latest picture promoting her As Ever jam. The Duchess of Sussex's brand quietly launched a new wine over the weekend-a 2024 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc-which seems to have gone largely unnoticed due to her appearance in France for Paris Fashion Week.
However, the brand also restocked some of the previously out-of-stock products, the apricot spread and the orange marmalade, and released new pictures alongside them. One of the pictures features the Duchess seemingly making her own jam in her home in Montecito, California, and now royal fans claim to have seen a major error in how she's using her canning equipment. In the picture, Meghan is seen holding a pair of canning lifter tongs to pull a jar of her jam out of a saucepan on the stove.

Several fans said the Duchess was using the tongs incorrectly, grabbing the green part of the lifter, which is specifically shaped to hold around the jars, instead of the part with the black handles.
One user wrote on X: "Guys she's using the canning tongs upside down. The rubber part goes around the jars so they don't slip."
Another one agreed: "Yes, the green goes on the bottom to grab the jar."
A third one said: "You can see the green portion is for grip and the thick black portion at the bottom is to grip the jar."
A fourth one commented: "She's using the wrong lids as well. Everything about this image is contrived. It takes a two second Google search to show that these are not the kind of lids that use in home canning."
A fifth one joked: "Dude, as a canner, I almost broke a rib I laughed so hard at this."
A sixth one explained: "Guys - Megan(sic) is clearly holding the silicone and not the plastic, black rollers that rotate. I've made this mistake before and you can break jars and hurt yourself. The silicone can be black, red, or green and is meant for gripping jars and repetitive exposure to boiling water."
However, the image sparked a debate online, as some people appeared to defend the Duchess, saying she is holding the tongs correctly.
One user blasted: "The black rubber is the part that goes around the cans. She is doing it correctly." However, another one replied: "No, she's not. I have this exact pair of canning tongs."
A second user wrote: "This isn't her fault lol but if you're advising her for ads, you think this would be a slam-dunk, right?"
A third one added: "Probably, but look at how small the jars sitting on the counter are. Maybe, she knows something we don't? Maybe she's doing something we haven't considered like moving 25 little jars around in that pot?"
As Ever's new release came amid a flurry of stories about Meghan Markle's Paris trip.
During the brief visit, the Duchess also had an awkward encounter with the fashion house's creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli, when they tried to kiss, and she ended up smacking her head on his sunglasses.
