Prince Andrew is thought to be remaining at Royal Lodge despite announcing that he will no longer use his royal titles in public. The 65-year-old issued a statement explaining that the decision comes after "continued accusations" about him "distracting from the work" of the Royal Family.
Speculation then grew over whether Andrew would remain at Royal Lodge, a Grade II listed house in Windsor Great Park which has been his home since 2003. Although it is believed King Charles has tried to encourage his brother to downsize to another royal home over the last few years, even making changes to his security in a bid to make this happen, Andrew has reportedly refused to budge.
Here, the Express looks at seven homes that Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, could move into if they were to leave Royal Lodge.
If Andrew and Sarah were to move further away, the Castle of Mey near John O'Groats in Caithness may be the perfect location.
The home was bought by the late Queen Mother in 1952. She later restored it and used the castle as her summer retreat.
After the late Queen Mother's death in 2002, the Queen Elizabeth Castle of Mey Trust opened the Castle for five months every summer to visitors. A visitor centre opened in 2007, and in 2019, the Castle of Mey Trust was absorbed into King Charles's Foundation.
The foundation is now responsible for managing tourism and the bed and breakfast on the castle grounds.
Andrew could relocate to one of the estates owned by King Charles near Zalanpatak and Viscri in Transylvania, Romania.
King Charles purchased his first Transylvanian property in 2006. This was an 18th-century Saxon house in the village of Viscri and , again in 2010, he purchased a home in the village of Zalanpatak.
The King uses these properties as his private retreats and rents them out to tourists when he is not in residence. The proceeds from the rentals support his foundation in Romania.
Due to Andrew's love of horses, he would have plenty to keep him occupied if he lived there.
Andrew and Sarah could also take up residence at Frogmore Cottage, which is located in Windsor.
The home was Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's previous UK base, and was the first home of their son Archie.
The Daily Mail previously revealed that the King had offered Andrew the option of Frogmore Cottage.
As a more modest property than Royal Lodge, Andrew reportedly saw this as a "demotion" too far.
Wood Farm is a farmhouse on the Royal Family's Sandringham estate in Norfolk. It is known as one of the "normal" homes that is owned by the Royal Family.
The five-bedroom property became a favourite retreat home for the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.
It was also where Philip was residing full-time for nearly three years before he was forced to move to Windsor Castle. This was due to the Covid pandemic forcing courtiers to move.
Also located in Norfolk is The Garden House - which was once the home of the late Queen's head gardener at Sandringham.
Having previously been featured on AirBnb, the home was described as a "charming hideaway", which was owned by the late Queen.
The listing also said: "[it is] nestled within the heart of her much-loved Sandringham Estate country retreat and the closest estate property to Sandringham House itself... As well as the formal walled garden with its wonderfully stocked beds and borders in which the property sits, there is a more informal garden where you can relax in and children and dogs are safe to run and play."
It previously cost £237 and £354 per night to rent.
The King and Queen always spend a couple of weeks a year at their secluded three-bedroom farmhouse on the Llwynywermod estate in Carmarthenshire.
As well as having bought the £1.2million estate in 2007, it also came with two cottages available to rent. Depending on the time of the year, North Range and West Range cost between £1,400 to £2,400 a week.
According to the Llwynywermod website: "Sitting within a courtyard range adjoining the Welsh royal residence of Llwynywermod, North Range is a charming barn conversion available for occasional holiday lets.
"North Range forms part of a courtyard attached to Llwynywermod Farmhouse and is beautifully furnished to suit the style of the property, with a mixture of period and contemporary furniture including many Welsh pieces and local fabrics."
The Royal Family have various smaller cottages for hire around different parts of the UK, including in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Several of these belong to the Duchy of Cornwall, which is now owned by Prince William as the Prince of Wales.
Prior to her marriage to Prince William, Princess Kate's family paid £3,000 to the then-Prince Charles to reside at Restormel over Christmas.
The 500-year-old manor boasts a heated swimming pool, tennis courts and nine bedrooms.
