After branding Superman woke, Dean Cain has delved further into right-wing politics.
The actor, who famously portrayed Clark Kent in Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, has announced he's joining the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
In a video shared on social media, the DC Comics superhero star declared: "Hey everybody, Dean Cain here. For those who don't know, I am a sworn law enforcement officer, as well as being a filmmaker, and I felt it was important to join with our first responders to help secure the safety of all Americans, not just talk about it. So, I joined up."
In recent months,ICE has been ramping up raids and operations to enforce immigration policy nationwide, chiefly focusing on major cities.
Those apprehended were labelled criminals by numerous MAGA supporters, including Dean himself, reports the Mirror US.
A report from the Cato Institute found 7% of individuals arrested had committed a violent crime.
So far, just over 200,000 individuals have been reportedly detained by ICE.
Dean maintained Trump arrested "the worst of the worst."
Dean claimed: "Since President Trump took office, ICE has arrested hundreds of thousands of criminals including terrorists, rapists, murderers, pedophiles, MS-13 gang members, drug traffickers, you name it - very dangerous people who are no longer on the streets."
In an attempt to meet staffing requirements, ICE is luring potential recruits with significant incentives such as a £50,000 bonus.
On 29th July, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem made a plea: "Your country is calling you to serve at ICE. Your country needs dedicated men and women of ICE to get the worst of the worst criminals out of our country. This is a defining moment in our nation's history. Your skills, your experience, and your courage have never been more essential. Together, we must defend the homeland."
Dean urged more individuals to participate, stating they "can get to work right away."
He also reiterated his support for Donald Trump, declaring, "I like that. I voted for that."
However, not all of Dean's followers were able to join the movement. One fan expressed on Twitter, previously known as X, "Unfortunately, you can't join ICE if you're over 37 years of age - even if you're a fully licensed state law enforcement officer. As of now, they do not have waivers unless you were previously a federal law enforcement officer," which led Dean to suggest, "Perhaps we'll get that changed.."
Many fans of Superman, however, were disheartened by the actor's path.
"Holy cow. You have lost your mind. It's a sad day for America when we have to watch 'actors' pretend to be officers and trying to recruit folks. You are a sad little man," one commented. Another added, "Superman himself would be disappointed in you Dean."
After viewing the latest Superman film featuring David Corenswet, Dean slammed the movie as "woke."
He told TMZ: "How woke is Hollywood going to make this character? How much is Disney going to change their Snow White? Why are they going to change these characters [to] exist for the times?".
