The world's longest flight connects America to Asia with passengers strapped into their seats for almost 19 hours. The current holder for the longest long-haul flight is the Singapore Airlines journey from New York's JFK Airport to Singapore Changi.
The 9,537-mile journey has a scheduled arrival time of 18 hours and 50 minutes and was launched by the company back in 2018. The route is serviced by Singapore Airline's latest A350-900ULRs, which can fly over 20 hours without stopping. The plane can continue for so long due to the inclusion of a modified fuel system. This has the ability to increase the plane's total fuel capacity to a staggering 24,000 liters.
However, the journey is not easily accessible, with Singapore Airlines not offering an economy class on the route. Instead, Singapore Airlines offers 67 Business Class seats and 94 Premium Economy Class seats.
In Premium Economy, passengers can enjoy the benefits of extra legroom, a footrest, and an adjustable headrest. Meanwhile, passengers can also take advantage of noise-cancelling headphones and WiFi over the course of their flight.
Business class passengers enjoy maximum privacy, while their seats convert into fully flat beds to allow for a restful sleep while travelling. Singapore Airlines claim that the A350-900ULR will offer customers a "more comfortable travelling experience".
The plane has a range of extra features such as higher ceilings, larger windows and even lighting designed to reduce jetlag. The Airline claims that the plane's new carbon composite airframe also allows for improved air quality.
Those who want a ticket are likely to be very well-off, with seats typically selling for well into five figures. Singapore Airlines' CEO, Mr Goh Choon Phong, previously explained that the new route will be the "fastest way" to travel between the two major cities.
He said: "Singapore Airlines has always taken pride in pushing the boundaries to provide the best possible travel convenience for our customers, and we are pleased to be leading the way with these new non-stop flights using the latest technology, ultra-long-range Airbus A350-900ULR.
"The flights will offer our customers the fastest way to travel between the two cities - in great comfort, together with Singapore Airlines' legendary service - and will help boost connectivity to and through the Singapore hub."
