ROORKEE: An 18-year-old man fatally struck his 62-year-old father on the head with a spade following a minor altercation at a brick kiln in the Manglaur area in Haridwar district on Sunday.
Police said Saleem, a resident of UP's Shamli district, was staying with his wife, three young children and his son Mushahir at Aasra brick kiln in Tanda Bhaneda village, where they worked as brick moulders.
Saleem noticed his son working slowly and scolded him for his sluggishness. Enraged, Mushahir grabbed a spade and struck his father on the head, killing him instantly, and fled the scene. "We have sent the body for postmortem and registered a murder case," said SP (rural) SC Suyal.
