Jaipur: A group of tourists from Delhi on a visit to Ranthambore National Park met with an accident in Sawai Madhopur late Saturday, resulting in the death of an 18-year-old woman and injuries to four others. The tourists, all relatives, had checked into a hotel in Ranthambore earlier in the weekend and were exploring the area. They went out for a late-night drive and were returning to their hotel when their car veered off the road and crashed into a tree around 1.30am. The deceased was identified as Manyata Pathak, a resident of Paschim Vihar, New Delhi.
The injured are Harsh (28), Isha (25), Siddharth (39), and Deh Pathak (25). Isha was found unconscious inside the car, while the others had multiple injuries. Doctors said their condition was now stable, though they were under close observation.
SI Jawan Singh, who was among the first to reach the scene, said the group was driving a Mahindra XUV 700, heading from Sherpur toward Sawai Madhopur, when the vehicle lost control at a sharp turn. "The car lost balance due to the steep turn and speed and crashed into a tree. The front of the vehicle was completely wrecked," Singh said.
Locals rushed out after hearing the crash and alerted the police and emergency services. Police teams, along with ambulances, arrived within minutes. The injured were taken to the district hospital, where doctors declared Manyata dead on arrival. Her body was later sent for post-mortem and handed over to her family Sunday morning.
"Manyata suffered severe head injuries in the accident. She had no pulse by the time we reached the hospital," Singh said.
