Akshay Kumar's 'Kesari Chapter 2' has released in cinemas today, on April 18. The film sees the actor play the role of C. Sankaran Nair, a brave Indian lawyer who took on the British Empire in court. As far as the box office is concerned, this film is obviously not in the same genre as massy movies like 'Sikandar', so a huge opening number wasn't expected. But it had a decent opening of around Rs 7.75 crore.
Kesari 2 sees huge growth on Sunday
On day 1, the film made Rs 7.75 crore and there was good word of mouth, hence some growth was expected over the weekend. On Saturday, day 2, the movie made around Rs 9.75 crore which was a growth of around 25 percent, according to Sacnilk. There was further jump on Sunday and the film made around Rs 12.25 crore. Thus, the total collection of the first three days now stands at Rs 29.75 crore. This is pretty decent for a film like this, as it's not the typical massy big film which was expected to cross Rs 100 crore within its first three days.
According to Sacnilk, it had earned around Rs 3 crore in the advance ticket sales. A lot will depend on the 'spot' bookings for the film which will come from positive word of mouth. One can also expect the film to see some growth over the weekend as the early reviews on social media look good. There is a holiday on 'Good Friday' for some parts, hence, which may help in more footfalls in the night shows. Last year, 'Crew' had released on 'Good Friday' and this Kareena Kapoor, Tabu, Kriti Sanon starrer did pretty well due to the holiday.
