Justine Moore, a partner at venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz recently shared a post featuring a Boston Dynamics robot dressed as a baby dragon at Universal Epic Universe . The post is captioned “Universal is putting dragon costumes on the Boston Dynamics robots, and they are insanely cute”. It has over 32 seconds long video clip, showcasing a small, black-and-white robotic figure with large, expressive green eyes, resembling a baby dragon. The post caught Elon Musk’s attention who responded to it saying “The robots will defeat us with cuteness 🥰”.

Boston Dynamics is known for its Spot robot , a four-legged robotic platform often used for industrial applications but also adapted for entertainment. The company has a history of creating engaging public demonstrations, such as the dance routines with Sparkles (a Muppet-like costume for Spot) to improve the public perception of robotics.

In the above case, Universal has partnered with Boston Dynamics to bring the dragons of the How to Train Your Dragon franchise to life, using Spot’s advanced mobility and autonomy.

Universal Epic Universe is an upcoming theme park in Orlando, Florida which is set to open on May 22, 2025. The specific area in the video is the How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk land, a themed section inspired by the DreamWorks animated franchise.
