A uniformed NYPD housing officer , aged 27, was brutally beaten and robbed gun with other things while he was off-duty in the Bronx on Saturday.
The incident occurred around 4.10 am on St. Peters Avenue in Parkchester as he walked towards his vehicle after completing his shift.
Two assailants, dressed entirely in black, attacked the officer and seized his gun belt containing his weapon from the vehicle. The officer sustained serious injuries, including a fractured eye socket, after the attackers kicked him in the head whilst he lay on the ground, New York Post reported.
The victim, whose identity was not disclosed, was transported to a nearby hospital where his condition was reported as stable later that day.
During the incident, the officer was speaking on the phone with a colleague when the attackers confronted him. He reportedly pleaded with them, saying "Don't shoot me! I'm a cop!" before they fled the scene.
The perpetrators stole multiple items, including the officer's wallet, identification cards, and both his personal and NYPD-issued mobile phones.
Law enforcement officials are examining this incident as part of a broader pattern of robberies occurring in the Bronx area, according to sources.
